Oh my goodness, I wish this was going to be an entire series. A trilogy is just not enough
As stated previously: I have a huge issue with the circumstances between the meeting of our main character(s) from the first book. Despite this, I went into the series not knowing and had already purchased all three books. In the spirit of not wasting money, I read it. I want my opinions of the book to not be associated with my morals. Thank you!
This is probably going to be an unpopular take on this trilogy but the entire series should’ve focused on Blythe and Fate specifically.
Here are the things that I think are well done about the book:
- They’re well suited as a couple
- Enemies to lovers literally
- The dialogue between them is hilarious
- [Mostly] Realistic portrayal of grief
- Frustratingly consistent pacing
- Really beautiful and intense imagery
Here’s a list of my gripes that didn’t ruin this book but did leave me wanting to see changed:
- Curb the usage of nicknames
- Wonky and inconsistent magic, immortals, etc
- Introduction of an important character really late into the book
- Percy. Period. Boo.
It’s seriously an understatement how well done this particular book is. If you’re able to overlook some of the inconsistencies of the magic and immortals, I’d say it has a potential to be a favorite on a lot of shelves. If you didn’t need some of the knowledge from the first two books, I would say just read this one. Maybe just read a plot summary of the first two.
