Peeta is soooo cute, I love him.
I found the plot a little predictable, but it's good anyway.

Absolutely f*cking mind-blowing. My favorite story ever. The subtext, the depth it has, Katniss, the writing, the sheer suspense and dreadfulness of it all has me in the palm of its hand. It was the Hunger Games that made me realise for the first time that fictional stories could tell us something about the real world. I was delighted to read it again in this beautiful edition, and to say that I'm excited about Haymitch's games would be the understatement of the year

i am way too late for this, i fear....
there were definetely flaws, but it did what it promised to, if that makes sense - it came out when i was, 3 years old, and you can tell. the language and word choices(like describing the boy from district 10, i think, with the c-slur several times) and sometimes this girl's inner monologue was .... silly .... but i still loved it.
the book was exactly what i expected, not more, not less. it was eye-opening and the world was cool and interesting, and oh how some characters made me want to throw shoes at them, and the politics?? that was pretty much the entire reason i read this (apart from my friend who bullied me into reading it) and it did not let me down

I watched the first movie a while ago so I already knew how the story would go, but I wanted to read it to dip my toes into dystopian and especially because the recently published prequel has taken the world by storm.
I enjoyed the story and I’m intrigued to carry on reading the series because I want to learn more about the districts, the Capitol and Panem.
I like Katniss as a character, she reminds me of my older sister who would volunteer for me and is as resilient as her.
Peeta is such a sweetheart but I feel bad because Katniss isn’t in love with him. But I’m intrigued to see how far they have to keep up this “relationship”.
The games themselves were enjoyable to read and kept me engaged because I couldn’t wait to see what happens next.
I’m definitely reading Catching Fire next!
