I read this with my 7yo and we both enjoyed it.  The characters were sweet, the neighborhood vivid and cozy.

Read this to the kids and we all really enjoyed it. It was fun to get to know all the Vanderbeeker kids!

It looked like Mr. Beiderman was breathing happiness into his body.

I was not aware that this book is basically a advent calendar book. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed it even though Christmas is still far away.
The family bond is very strong and I adored every character.
The slightly deeper topics where discussed in a very sensible way for the younger demographic.
It was a good beginning and I’m excited to follow this cast in another adventure.
If you enjoyed books like The Penderwicks, I think you would also enjoy this novel

An absolutely delightful middle grade read. This warmed my heart. I read it cover to cover and then immediately grabbed an ebook of the sequel so I could read more of these rambunctious and smart kids. This story is bursting with personality and I think I’ll read it again and again.

It's been a while since I've read a book that so immediately and steadily filled me with joy. I loved it -- a beautiful depiction of siblings and forgiveness and the powerful love that bonds a community.
