This started out pretty well, but after 400 pages of sieges and battles, and little progression towards the end goal, the general tone of the books was well set. As the book went on, I also realised there is a lot of unnecessary detail which made it a struggle to simply finish the book. Although I read much if the book out of interest to see how they would get out of a situation etc, in the end, I was reading just simply to know how the series ended so all the time I invested in the series wasn't wasted.
Overall a good book, well written and plot line well thought out. I liked how he got rid of the King. The ending was certainly no Tolken and no love story, not really sure what it was but it wasn't an ending...

Un cierre bastante esperado, y para nada precipitado, para cada uno de los personajes y la historia de . Alagaësia. Aunque algunas partes fueron un poco densas y a mi parecer incensarías, pues alargaron la historia demasiado, el final es si es bastante satisfactorio y reconfortarte.

It was stunning end to a stunning series. I must say though that if you didn't read the previous books, it will seem dull. It starts up right where it ended. I am a fan of these books, love them. This makes me bias, as I obviosly will say that it was an enjoyable read and a page turner. These things are true, only if you are a fan. The book is large and wraps up many loose end, brilliant to end the series.
I would recommend this book to all fans or readers of this series. Make sure you have lots of time and you will not be disappointed. Buy it, borrow it and most importantly read it! It may not be book of the year, but is certainly book of the month. READ IT.

11/19/11 ~ Finished this in the morning before work...i would have finished it sooner but i forgot it at home on the 18th while i had been reading it during my lunch and breaks every day. I can still see the parallels to LotR and loved the sci fi/fantasy novel/show/film references sprinkled throughout. He managed to pull it off, even surprising me in the process with where he took characters such as Murtagh, Nasuada, and Angela. Angela is knitting so often that the only thing he missed with her character is that she didn't kill anyone with her needles (;. Of course, they were birch, not metal, so that might have something to do with it. The knitter in me was very happy, though. And the book worked for me until the very end, that is what we find out after the main plot climax occurs. This i was less happy about on a couple of different levels, and i was surprised about one of them, and the other was probably my main reason for sticking with this series for so long. Of course, now he broke it, and i don't really feel comfortable talking more about what it was that disappointed me because that would give it away for people who haven't read it yet. If it weren't for the last quarter of the novel...i would have given this another star, but he just let me down too much in the end. If he wasn't going to give me what i wanted...i almost think it would have been better not to let us know one way or the other about the conclusion of this one thread. Instead he had to go and alienate some of us. Oh well. Such is part of the burden of being an author...
