I loved seeing this picture book memoir in diary format. We get to see the emotions of leaving one place for another. Many children who have moved can relate even if it wasn't to another country. There is love and support within the family.

As usual, I adored Maya Christina Gonzalez's rich illustrations. They are full of life and are so vivid.

A powerful reminder to all who have made the journey from here to there that in our hearts we are never far from what we left behind.

In this bilingual autobiographical picture book, Amada Irma Perez recounts the story of her family's move to the United States from Mexico. Her fears, struggles, and joys are accompanied by the magnificent art of Maya Christina Gonzalez. Highly recommended both for its beauty and the story within its pages.
