This volume is absolutely amazing in a brutal, over the top way. The survivors make their next breakthrough in discovering another community. Hope is again within reach but in the usual TWD fashion not all is what they seem to be. Great drama and thrilling characters.

That was another fun volume. Randel from the show is making a bit more sense now. And yeah. Carol is really a goner. She is talking total insane stuff. This volume introduces one of the best villain of The Walking Dead - The Governor. The things that the Governor do to them is gruesome. no more spoilers...
i loved the show & watched it from start to finish. i’d like to note that i’m extremely happy that the show did not follow the same plot as the books. i found the governor in the show to be, yes, cruel, but i was excited to see him in the comics.
what i’ve just read was so unbearable to read. the serial rape and torture was disgusting and the ‘sound affects’ that glenn had to listen to as michonne was raped in the next room was disgusting. there was literally no need to include this. it was very, very upsetting and triggering.
i’ve read in other reviews, and had already formed my opinion on this fact, that the writers must just absolutely despise women. the only bearable women in this series so far has been andrea and michonne. the rest are portrayed as whiny, useless, only good for taking care of children, and incapable of living without men. it’s really gross how they depict women in the series and continuously bash them.
i’m continuing the series because i love the zombie element, the found family trope, and because of my love for the show, i NEED to see how it developed into its awesomeness by reading the series (+ i already got 16 volumes before i read this novel).
without the constant degradation of women i’d probably rate this a 5 star read, i just am disgusted with the lack of care the authors took when writing the graphic rape scenes and the women’s major character points.
