I kept thinking ooo, THIS is going to be the chapter that makes me switch to a 4-5 star review like everyone else is giving. Instead it just got more predictable and boring.
Also, I'm all for unlikable protagonists. But does this woman hate women? Maybe she just hates everyone.

This dark & disturbing psychological thriller is not for the faint of heart!
I found You Were Made for This to be both enthralling and difficult to read. I don't think I have ever read a book where every character was so psychologically damaged, wretched and despicable. The story is told in 3 alternating point of views and there was no respite - not one of them had any redeeming qualities. Page after page, things went from bad to worse.
The book was like a train wreck that I couldn't pull myself away from. I literally read pages with a feeling of revulsion in the pit of the stomach. Yet, I continued turning the pages. Drawn to the sadistic world these people had created for themselves.
There wasn't much backstory here and I feel like that was deliberate. I don't think we are meant to fully understand why Merry, Sam and Frank are they way they are. Sacks drops hints here and there into the story and we know they were damaged in their childhoods but that's not the emphasis for this story. The story is deeply rooted in the tragic present. In the tangled web that is their current lives. There is almost a sadistic dependency on each other between Merry & Frank and Merry & Sam. So much hate intertwined with their dark need for each other. It's as if they fed off each other - for better or worse. Unfortunately, these relationships were nothing but destructive, taking the one good thing between them and ultimately destroying it.
My momma heart could not bare to see how baby Connor was treated by these people. That poor innocent child did not stand a chance with these cruel sociopaths. The parts involving the baby left me feeling repulsed, angered and heartbroken.
The fact that Michelle Sachs was able to evoke so many emotions from me make this an unforgettable read. I was pulled in from the onset and the story never let up. The last line - it will haunt me for a long time to come.
Thank you to Michelle Sacks, Little Brown and Company, and Netgalley for the copy to review in exchange for my honest opinion.

This is a deeply disturbing book. None of the characters are good people, but I still found myself wanting to keep reading.

A dark, gritty, domestic, slow burning psychological thriller.
I found this book weirdly addicting to read - I felt that I couldn’t put it down because I just wanted to know what was going to unfold.
I found the multiple POV chapters interesting, it meant that you got a better sense of what was going on and how everyone was thinking and feeling. Although I found I didn’t actually like any of the characters in the end, it didn’t spoil the book at all, if anything it added to the strange desire to know exactly what was going to happen to them all.
I’m just so disappointed in the bizarre ending (I won’t say anymore as I don’t want to spoil it).
Saying that, I feel like this will be one of those books that will stick in my mind and I’ll be thinking about weeks later.

Though the writing style was unique and was an easy read, I have to be honest that this book was very uncomfortable for me... all of the characters were over the top psychopaths and I couldn’t sympathize with any of them. But what gave me chills was the very last line... You need to read it till the very end!
2.5 star
Okayy so as soon as I started reading this I noticed that it had a very weird writing style, there were no dialogues!! And it was so confusing at times. But I was ready to ignore that if the plot was good.
Spoiler: it wasn’t
Most of the reviews I read talked about a plot twist so I was looking forward to that, but the twist was so mehh, it was predictable, disappointing, and the way it had been portrayed left a really bad taste in my mouth.
While reading there were so many red flags that I ignored and I regret doing so …but I really wanted to see what that ‘TWIST’ was.
Some of the red flags were; 1)ofc the writing style which I mentioned before.
2) CHILD ABUSE (this is where I draw the line)
3)The characters were so unlikeable!! Normally Idc about the characters because I read it mostly for the plot and the twists but these characters were just downright insane!!!!!
I know that this is a work of fiction but the way the author had portrayed child abuse was too much for me to ignore. And the fact that this happens irl to kids makes it that much more terrifying how can people be so inhuman?
Also, I saw this review “With friends like this who needs enemies?” and I couldn’t agree more. If I say more on that it would spoil the book so ill stop here
Days after reading this and multiple attempts after trying to reread the last few chapters and I am still so freaking confused by the ending. It just made me go wtff coz I was so confused. I hate when a book doesn’t end well, at least if there were a sequel to it, it would be acceptable but there isn’t one for this so idk.
I normally don’t give low ratings to books coz writing a book and publishing it, isn’t an easy task but this book just made me feel so sick that if I could just wipe out my memory of it, I would!
You might be wondering after all that why did I give it a 2.5? well here are the reasons
1. The setting was perfect!! In Sweden in the middle of nowhere surrounded by forests and lakes I just loved the setting.
2. The various Swedish references throughout the book
3. Last but not least Connor, the only redeemable character from the entire book.

Thanks to Little, Brown for an advance copy of this for an honest review.
This is the second book in a short amount of time that I've decided not to give a star rating to, and for similar reasons. I feel like I was the wrong reader at the wrong time for this book, and I don't want a negative star rating to impact what others might think of this book. For this reader, the depiction of abuse was really challenging and upsetting, and I think readers who might find this topic similarly horrifying might want to consider what they feel prepared to handle before choosing this book. The author's choice to set the book in what appears to be an idyllic Swedish countryside was well done, and the pacing of the book was consistent and fast.

Woooooow that was a very dark and heavy read. The more I read, the more predictable these thriller books seem to become. It's either someone you suspect throughout the book, or a complete surprise which in itself can become predictable.
This was one of those reads where you suspect everyone, because each and every character is so, so cruel, manipulative and abusive. A lot of sensitive content warnings are packed into this one but it was a good read. The only reason it's not getting 5 stars is because the sexual context was a bit too explicit for my liking.
