I picked up this book because I'm a volunteer at the cemetery where Ms. Hepburn is buried. I felt like I wanted to know more about her, and also about her family, since they are all buried there. I enjoyed the first couple of chapters the most, because they take place in Hartford, and getting a "look" at the town as it was before highways, when you could tie a sled to the back of a car and be pulled down Sigourney Street. Most of the book is devoted to her career. I'd say that she was mostly likeable, and had many interesting friends. The book was a very quick read, with lots of photographs.
I've made forty-three pictures. Naturally I'm adorable in all of them — but I don't want to kill any of you, and some of them have a dangerous virus called boredom.
Katharine Hepburn is my favorite of the Old Hollywood stars, and I was so excited to finally get my hands on this book. The Philadelphia Story is one of my favorite films and I love her vivacity and her talent. I truly felt like I was in a room with her listening to her tell these stories.
My favorite section was the one on her friendship with George Cukor, but this is full of gems!

amazing. exactly how i thought she would tell the story of her life. the sections about "ST" were heartbreaking.
5 stars!
I may be a bit biased because I'm always so thrilled by autobiographies by old hollywood, and I'm a big fan of Katherine Hepburn. But I absolutely adored this.
This was not a chronological telling of Katherine Hepburn's life, not even close. In fact each chapter was sometimes only loosely connected to the title of the chapter. This was what I imagine having a conversation with Katherine Hepburn about her life would have been like. She went off on tangents and side stories then seemed to catch herself and return to the main theme. It was a fun romp through her life and what Hollywood was like at that time. I learned loads about her life and what was going on at the time.
It's not for everyone because I imagine many people would prefer a more chronological telling, but it is a realistic telling, and a fun telling.
