This reads exactly like an 83 year-old free-spirited movie star decided, on a whim, to write her memoirs one rainy weekend—memoirs that were then left completely unedited by the publisher. I loved it.

'Me: Stories of My Life' is not your ordinary autobiography. Katharine Hepburn tackles it in a way that is uniquely her own. There is no questioning that it is her voice telling you the This 'N' That of her life. She doesn't start with her birth and go from there. Instead she haphazardly meanders from one story to another, sometimes without even finishing her first!
The people who enjoy biographies to be very ABC 123 will not like the format for this one, but for those of you who just want to know the actress, mystery, and legend that was Katharine Hepburn there is a lot to enjoy here in her book. She goes to dark times, fun times and some times in between. You find out that she was slightly frivolous and conceited but always kind and honest. It's like you get to sit down and have a conversation with the classic film star, so much so that you almost think you can ask the book questions and receive answers.
I liked this book and enjoyed everything that I learned about her. For her fans this book is rich with fun information. For those only mildly curious about her romance with Spencer Tracy, her supposed lesbianism or her signature Hepburn traits then you will be disappointed. 3.3/5

I couldn't make it past the choppy writing style.

I cried because I was moved several times during this book, mostly at Hepburn’s outlook on life, or rather her undying zest and gratitude for it—even near the end. It made me want to take responsibility for my life; to be fearless and leave no dream or adventure unturned to collect dust in the corner of my mind. It was truly inspiring and amazing to hear such a legend recount her life in a stream-of-conscious style series of stories on her successes, failures, loves, and hurts. I SOBBED for the duration of her ode to Spencer Tracy. If what she felt for him was not the truest form of love, I don’t know what was.

i do not think katharine hepburn used a ghostwriter. the book reads like my grandma telling me stories about her life
This book was okay. But to be fair when I picked it up it's not like the recommendation of it was that it was stellar. It was recommended on a podcast I like as "both beautifully and terribly written". which I completely agree with. it reads like you are having an entirely one sided conversation with Katherine Hepburn, as she manages to write exactly how she speaks. It's interesting but was a chore for me to get through.
My favorite part was about her being a tutor, I still remember it almost 20 years later. Oh, and her 19-inch waist.
