This was terrible. It didn’t work as a standalone, which I learned the hard way but then I was too stubborn to quit. It’s not like I would have read the other books anyway since they’re MF, but honestly it doesn’t seem like I missed anything worthwhile anyway.

So, I didn’t get the story. That’s on me. But that didn’t explain the inconsistencies in the writing and the random change of minds that the MCs kept having. Dare was like “ew, I don’t want him like that” one minute and then in love the next. And not in the fun way. He spent the book being a doormat for his asshole family that I despised, then he suddenly seemed to realize how they’d been treating him at the same time as he “realized” he loved Vance, so everything fell into place at once. Again, not in the fun way.

The ending after was boring with some letters to characters I didn’t know from another character I didn’t know. Also, Dare told Vance his life story only to have Vance be like “umm getting married at 19 was really stupid”. What kind of response is that to a guy telling you about a former heartbreak? Two seconds later Vance was like “marry me”, again, after they had been together for about 2 seconds. Seriously?

The only person I kind of liked was the therapist, Dr. Saunders. He was great with Vance. But, even so, that’s not really what I wanted for a romance.

Oh sigh.... my heart is happy and sad at the same time. Sad because this was Vance's book and happy because, well, this was Vance's book! I have been waiting to get inside of this grumpy quiet man's mind. This story was perfect. It wasn't over dramatized (though I'd really love to smack Dare's mom and dad). It was just two lost souls finding a way to love again without even knowing it.

Honestly Vance's book wasn't at all what I expected. I expected him to be harder to break. I love that he wasn't though. I love that he found his heart and emotions. I love the bond he created with his family. ❤ And that twist? Oh dang. I'm excited for more!!

Thank you for bringing us this crazy but amazing family. Thank you for those letters! William definitely knew his sons. I just wish he had more of a chance with them. I'm excited for more!

I can always count on Claudia Burgoa to give me a terrific couple, and this series has been full of them. I've loved every couple, but Vance and Darren take the top spot. I just loved both of them to pieces. Opposites attract is one of my favorite romance tropes - they're always great for wit and banter, and Claudia definitely knows how to do witty dialogue. Darren is just the sweetest guy - I wanted to shake him a time or two, but I still couldn't help but love him. Vance is the big tough guy with some pretty thick walls to break through, but like Darren, he's absolutely lovable. They both have their faults and issues to work through, but I loved their journey. And that pivotal, aha moment when one character or the other finally realizes how they feel? Yeah, it was great. It wasn't over the top, but it was perfect for the character. Then we have the conclusion, which was everything I hoped for from this series - and maybe a little more, but that would be entering into spoiler territory. I'll just say that this is a completely entertaining romance, and a great addition to the series.

If you’re looking for a beautiful, heartwarming and angsty MM story, this romance book is for you. I loved the connection between these two and how different but so alike they seem from start to finish.
I haven’t read all of the previous books in the series but after finishing this ibex I really want to know all the other character’s stories and fall in love over and over again with them all . A must read series from a favourite author.

This is book 6 in the Bakers Creek Billionaire Brother series, this is Vance and Darren's book.

Although M/M isn't my usual genre, I knew that Vance's book would be, but it was so beautifully written that you didn't really notice, with everything else going on, all you saw was a lovely love story.

Darren is one of the neurosurgeons that saved Vance's little brother's life, they were chalk and cheese but they worked so well together, Dare helped to bring Vance out of himself and learn to love himself and others. Vance had had a tough life having to live up to his grandfather's expectations and it made him angry and broody, he didn't know how to get past it.

It was a challenging journey and Vance had to see a therapist, and that's when it became clear why William had sent all of the brothers to Bakers Creek.

what a brilliant conclusion to the brother's story and the letters made it perfect, I loved this series so much, and I am sorry it has ended.

Vance is ex-military and thought he was working for a good organization, only to find out the opposite. Darren is a neurosurgeon who is just looking for something different and he gets that opportunity in Baker’s Creek.

I loved the instant connection and chemistry between these two men. However, both of them tried hard to deny their attraction to one another. These two of complete opposites of each other. Vance is more of the silent, broody type and Darren is chatty and more cheery. Yet, somehow they are truly perfect for each other, even if it takes the both of them some time to notice that.

There is some lightness to this story. It has laughs, some heat, emotions and plenty of passion and love.

If you’re looking for a MM, opposites attract romance this is one to check out.

Who knows, but this might be the best thing that's happened to me in years. And I thought chocolate croissants were the answer to everything. I was so wrong.

Darren is wanting a change of scenery due to his overbearing mother and sisters so when he is offered a job opportunity in Baker's Creek as the head of neurology by his college friend it's a no-brainer to take the opportunity. The one thing he did not expect was the broody, ex-military brother of his college friend to scramble his brain. Vance is being forced to seek therapy and hates feelings, so when Darren starts making him feel things he gets angry.

There are a fair amount of laugh-out-loud points throughout the book. I enjoyed the tension and flirting between Darren and Vance. I struggled at points to feel the connection between Darren and Vance since there was not a lot of time that they were actually together and most of their relationship and the connection was presumed. Although this can be read as a standalone, I am thinking that it would be a lot better and easier to understand if you read all the books in order. It is a good wrap-up to a series and I can not wait to get updates of the characters in upcoming books.

4 Maple Leafs... Yours to Keep (The Baker's Creek Billionaire Brothers, Book Six) is a M/M, Medical, Military, Opposites Attract, Billionaire, Fake Relationship, Slow Burn that is told from the dual first-person point of view of Vance and Darren.

Vance & Darren

Great way to end part 1 of this series. I was a little disappointed by how quickly everything was resolved & that the letters from their father weren’t way juicer. I did like getting to know Vance, the mysterious one, much better.

I picked up this ARC because I like to support any author who is willing to include an MM romance within a mainstream MF series and, on the whole, I enjoyed it.

As this was the sixth, and final, one in a six book series, I'm pretty sure I was missing out on some of the nuances.

But, overall, it worked fairly well as a standalone.

It wasn't a higher rated read for me because of a couple of reasons.

Firstly, the steam level. There's one on page blowjob, one on page full on sex scene and then everything else is referenced off page.

This could be the author's style, as I said, I haven't read any others in the series.

However, my preference is for the growing trust and emotional vulnerability which comes from a point in the relationship where you've connected with the other enough to reach that level of intimacy, should be on page.

It always leaves me feeling disconnected from the relationship when I'm reading they're being intimate or just releasing sexual tension with a hot fuck but I'm not seeing it. YMMV here.

The second element was the rest of the plot. It was a bit hard to swallow tbh and I'm not going to spoil it for others, but I'd have to say that I was suspending an awful lot of disbelief.

I think this is fairly common in the billionaire trope though

This book is a standalone in the sense that it focuses on a different couple than the ones featured in earlier books of the series, but the stories all build on one another and include pieces of an overarching mystery related to the Aldridge brothers' inheritance from their estranged father, William, which wraps up in this book. New readers won't be completely lost by starting here, but reading the series in order is likely to provide the best experience.

"Yours to Keep" told the story of retired Delta Force operative Vance Aldridge and neurosurgeon Dr. Darren "Dare" Russell, whose romance was a classic example of opposites attract. Flirty, outgoing Dare was smitten almost from the moment they met, but taciturn Vance did everything he could to avoid the handsome doctor. In fact, he was so successful in ignoring Dare's attempts at flirtation that Dare thought Vance might be straight for almost half the book. They finally started to see each other in a different light after Vance volunteered to fly Dare to Portland to consult on a patient as an excuse to get out of Baker's Creek for the day. The relationship grew quickly from there, but neither Dare nor Vance intended for them to become anything more than friends with benefits.

Vance was dealing with serious emotional trauma from his childhood, his time in the military, and his post-military work with a "private security" company that turned out to be a mercenary group with questionable ethics. For a long time, he was completely closed off to emotions, but guilt from his role in recent events that nearly led to his brother Beacon's death made it difficult to stay numb. After being forced into therapy by his prospective future employer, Vance finally started to work through everything that had happened to him. I loved seeing him slowly open himself up to Dare as well as to his five brothers, who became a true family over the course of the series.

Finally, I was very excited to learn the truth of William Aldridge's past and why he forced Vance and his brothers to live together in Baker's Creek for 18 months. The answers were not at all what I was expecting, but I loved the twist because it leaves the door open for a return to Baker's Creek in the future.

Overall, "Yours to Keep" was a satisfying conclusion to the series and I would recommend it for all fans of contemporary and M/M romance. I look forward to Claudia Burgoa's next release.
