Really gripping story and really well-written.  The story being written in multiple perspectives and having unreliable narration was really intriguing.

I struggled to think what to rate this book. It wasn't bad writing, technically, but the story it told was not for me. I ended up hating each character early on and some of the twists I saw coming. The language involving women was disturbing, a lot of "not like the other girls" as well.

This book is fascinating, convoluted, unhinged, and smartly written. Really my only problem with it was the way that it dragged, especially in the first part. When I have to switch the audiobook to 1.5x speed… I wonder if I would’ve had as much of a problem with it if I had read it instead of listened to it.

As soon as the second part hit, it did pick up, and watching the terrible spiral of all the characters was strangely hypnotic. It gives me cold shivers thinking about it. Would definitely recommend to people who enjoy psychological thrillers.

This book started off meh for me, but halfway through is when it really picked up. The storyline, the plot, the twists - all incredible. My only criticism is about the characters - besides Margo & Boney, I absolutely hated… loathed… every single main character. There were certain points where I debated whether to even finish the book because I had such negative feelings towards Nick and Amy (and even Andie). I’m glad I pushed through though because it really is a brilliant thriller/mystery.

I wanted to read this book because I kept seeing it labeled as a "brat girl summer read" or "good for her fiction", but I now kind of disagree with those ideas. Pinning the book down as a girl power anthem does it a disservice, because it's more about all the roles and masks a person wears in a relationship. Reading this book has caused a synchronicity effect whenever I hear about someone else's relationship, because all I can think of is the delicate dance of a marriage that Flynn describes in this book. I definitely recommend to anyone who is willing to think long and hard about the stereotypical/mainstream relationship ideals.

The short chapters combined with dual storytelling used made for an easy read. What an interesting subject/angle for a thriller! It revived my old love for the genre. I loved the slow build-up from a very realistic characters and lives to insanity which could still be possible.
