I understand that the aim was to portray Poppy as a naive girl with little education in things that mattered but she was excruciatingly slow at times.

It has very good moments, but this needs more polishing. It's a very funny and adventurous tale of a girl caged in a world she doesn't want and someone that frees her through blood and pain. But he is infuriating in the bad sense. Also very predictable story, these plot twist are as straight as the main couple are.

The book started a bit slow for me, took a minute to really get going. Also, there were several places where there were incomplete sentences or hard to follow dialogue. That said, I found the story beautiful and worth reading.

Coming off of SJM’s series, I knew I had to keep chasing that fantasy high. And while it wasn’t ACOTAR, I still enjoyed it.

Poppy is the Maiden, chosen by the gods. Her destiny is to live a life of solitary and service to her kingdom, but that doesn’t stop her from pushing the boundaries whenever and however she can. This book is a swirl of emotions, a touch of spice, a hefty vengeance, and a seemingly never ending lack of freedom as Poppy yearns to love her own life.

It was a bit predictable but in the best way possible.
