1st book of the readathon ! 4.5 stars. :]

they're so real about the narwhal thing it literally just hit me the other day that they're actually real like i knew but i was still shocked

So I listened to the audio version of this book and let me tell you, it made this book ten times more interesting! If I would have read this book, I don’t think I would have finished it. Sorry not sorry. Like it was clearly going to end with Arthur and Ben being together so all the drama in between was just annoying and unnecessary. I think listening to Froy as Ben helped a lot tbh.

“You could launch us to opposite ends of this solar system, and we'd find our way back to each other.”

This story is a lovely story surrounding two main characters, Ben and Author, we pick up three years after What If It's Us, and Ben and Author have reached different points in their life, both trying to move on from their break-up and discovering new relationships, new locations and new struggles, whilst also keeping their previous individual support networks close.

I absolutely adored being back in the presence of Ben, Authur and their wonderful friendships groups, as well as meeting new characters Mikey and Mario. Dylan and Samantha are one of my favourite couples ever (alongside Ben and Author obviously) and I am beyond happy they are still together, and have their own relationship develop throughout the book – which was adorable to witness. I love the bromance between Ben and Dylan, you can just feel the love between them, and know that it is an unbreakable friendship, Dylan is still his fun loving but completely questionable self, as there were a few questionable comments and behaviours he displayed that made me slightly uncomfortable, but did leave me thinking whether he was neurodiverse.

The plot was developed at a natural place, and this book really felt like such a miscommunication trope, and there were times this book choked me, I mean that quote” I guess you changed your mind about long-distance relationships, huh?” my heart sunk in that moment. But despite all that they had both been through, this book really felt like a natural self-discovery, understand and development for two 18yo’s who just needed to find their way back to one another

I did feel a level of heart for Mario and Mikey, and did feel like they did not deserve to be hurt, but I feel the authors were preparing us for this throughout the book, with multiple mentions of “someone will get hurt”, and it was heartbreaking to see them both hurt, but I love the fact that both those adorably cute future scenes gave everyone a HEA!

PS: Can I just say how much I loved the little easter eggs, and nods to popular culture, such as the nods to mentions of certain YA books, Broadway references, and the amazing Halestorm song: Here’s To Us!

i don’t have a lot to say other than it’s not what i wanted it to be

regardless, it’s still very entertaining and worth reading if you want something quick and simple! once again- love all the references in it :)

I can never decide if I love Adam Silvera or if I hate him because he can gut you with the most intense feelings but he can also loft you up and make you cry tears of joy. You feel like a friend of Arthur and Ben's when you read this. Its immersive and stunning. You'll root for them and cry for them. I was swinging my feet giggling at times absolutely would recommend this one.
