Their relationship felt completely physical and dominating… I liked the world and concept but I think they didn’t do the relationship justice. I hope the second book gives the characters a better chance at not being completely toxic
this was so fucking good but that last chapter was so nasty i can’t give it more than 4 stars…

I read this because it has a pink cover, and that's what I needed for my book bingo I'm doing. I am going to start by saying romance is not my thing, which is why I was hoping to get away with a fantasy book with romance in it, but really, this is not romance.
The fantasy part was great. Could've had more detail, but it's got a good start. I like how she's weak and pretty much stays that way doesn't turn into the forever fighter ever, just because. (Although the hint at her powers, of course, might change that in book 2). I can see that there is more to everything going on and want to read on. I do not like the "I hate you, but I really need to f*ck you" idea going on. He blatantly says that he hates her, so why the need to control who she's with from the second he sees her. Ewww... honestly, forcing her to beg and crawl on her knees is demeaning and made me kind of angry at her. I think he's got some narcissistic tendencies, and she has some daddy issues. Oh and that last chapter... oh H*LL NO!!
Overall, if I skim past the sex/ romance parts, I liked the story and want to read the next one.

The book sort of threw me off my game. I liked that it was short and easy reading. I think the story could have been improved if the world was explained in more detail. I was left with a whole lot of questions that I hope will be addressed in some manner in the next book.
I felt like the characters were a little under developed. I’m not sure of their motivations both when it comes to each other and what their next steps are.
As with most of her books I liked the side characters and their banter.
This is a slow burn compared to her other books but for a short read it delivers spice. Also, the MMC uses about every popular spice phrase out there, quite the variety! 3

To anyone who said this book is similar to Powerless, I completely agree. Still ate it up though.
