is it a perfect book? no. but did i genuinely enjoy reading it so much? yes.
5 star experience, not 5 star read
it had all of my favorite tropes, i love a possessive mmc, dual pov, enemies to lovers, well written spice & dirty talk ‼️‼️ also i didn’t feel like it lagged at all and was well paced.
would definitely recommend & dying for the next one.

wow
This was good for a KU book and was thoroughly impressed with the writing. kind of predictable with the ending, but still what a cliffhanger.

I was obsessed with this book. The tension was so thick between them you could quite literally see it if you were in the same room as them. One of my favorite quotes from the book is "I have been starved, nyra. until you." I MEAN COME ON?!??? Dacre has officially been put up on the list of smoking hot book boyfriends. The fact that he calls her little traitor just makes it better. I liked how we were able to see him waring with his emotions. He did not want to like Nyra but he did and oh boy did he fall hard.
But can I just take a second and rage about the end of the book?!!! First off I am a little salty that Dacre would use our little traitor like that. Made me super angry at him and then he send her off when he KNOWS his father is going straight out there after her. Send her off into the wilderness just because his feelings were hurt. Not very Hero of you Dacre, I expect you to take better care of her when you find her because boy he better find her first before his father. I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series!!! I am hoping for some more world building I think it would be great to learn more about the King and the magic system!
4 stars and 4 on the spicy scale!!

A fun read and I can see why people like it. Not really my type of Romantasy. The degrading smut talk/slut shaming is not for me. There was really no romance in this book, just lust-driven toxic power dynamic and the overuse of the pet name “little traitor”. My review is not based on the smut because to each their own -- my review is mostly based on the fact that the book needed more world building, we are given almost nothing. It’s mentioned that they are fae twice (25% in!) and we hardly know the powers that they can yield. If you want a well-thought out fantasy book don’t read. If you want an easy, enemies-to-hookup buddies (I refuse to use the word lovers here) smutty read, go for it!
Holly Renee, what did you put in this book?! I read 30ish pages yesterday and finished it today. Holy shit.
The lost city was one of the most intriguing fantasy worlds I’ve read about (in my opinion, anyway), like we just have a whole world underground in the woods outside the palace? I loved it.
Also loved the “rebelling princess” theme, and of course a STRONG enemies to lovers trope.
And THE ENDING?! I need the second book immediately.

Oh ho ho, if this wasnt a lush way to introduce a series. Intrusive thoughts. Possesive energy. 0 to 60 vibes.... truly I'm not even sure what to think of this enemy's to lovers.
Deliciously unquestioning. The most fabulous alternative to damsel in the tower waiting on prince charming is a princess who's escaped the castle herself. This read was a darling one I almost didn't want it to end.
