Omg!!! I do not know how anyone could hate this book. My only complaint is that it is too short! It’s the perfect read. The characters were everything and more. The fantasy was enough to feel immersed, but it didn’t drag on. I CANNOT wait for the next one, please hurry July!

I read this as a part of my bookclub read of the month.

I really enjoyed the first part of this book, and I devoured the read in two days! But I kept waiting for something to happen, and honestly, nothing did.

A lot was left unsaid and unexplained.

I thought that the book was about humans with magic until the line 'it was not heard of for a fae not to have magic' (not exact wording) and I found out that it was a fae kingdom and not human.

I also still am waiting to understand how the magic system works.

The same conversations kept happening, between the FMC and the MMC, I dont trust you, you're a traitor, I cant tell anyone my secret, your such an ass.

Then there was the spice... beg for it, your so wet for me, mine, mine, MINE, crawl to me. I admit it was too much for me and really hard to read. But if you like this kind of smut this book is for you.

I enjoyed some of the minor characters, especially Wren, I would have liked to have learnt more about her and the guy she is interested in, that she withheld from telling Nyra (FMC) and Kai seemed fun, but you dont really learn much about anyone.

The MMC was definitely an arrogant, egotistical ass, and every time he gave me some glimmer of hope that he had a heart and was a decent human being, he ruined it.

The FMC, is a princess who was mistreated and ran away, I kept wishing and hoping that she would stand up to the MMC but then she would say the words and just end up caving in to his good looks and let him walk all over her. It was disappointing and I hope that she gets more of a backbone in book 2, especially after how it ended.

I also kept waiting for them to suddenly be fated mates or anything to explain the MMC's insane possessiveness as well as the FMC's weakness to his bullshit. I don't mind the occasional possessive male lead, but I would like it to make sense. However, this was just such a level of toxic it was concerning.

Finally, the big revelation that she was the princess was anti-climatic, and honestly they should have figured it out much sooner. The ending was so shocking, my jaw was on the floor, and not in a good way.

Will I read book 2? I'm not sure. I'm half tempted, but I may wait for a friend to read it first to tell me a little before reading.

So if you don't like hesitant FMC then you really shouldn't read this.  IMO it makes perfect sense why Nyra is the way she is due to her past.  Therefore I can easily go with it.

Honestly the only thing I didn't like was related to the spicy scenes (I also didn't expect them to be as spicy as they were, but I didn't mind that aspect at all.)  Behind the spoiler tags you will find the type of kink that brought done the rating for me personally.
