It’s clear early on this is meant to be an allegory for “toxic masculinity”, I’m so not like that sort of narrative. Also the protagonist is insufferable and I have to like my protagonist to enjoy a story. Also way too much profanity. It’s clear which side of the aisle the author lies when the protagonist looks through a child’s book of fairy tales and calls it racist. Over it. DNF.

I don’t know if maybe I just wasn’t in the mood for this or if it was something else, but I just didn’t like this writing style. Something about it irked me and I found it almost frustrating to read. I think I’d try pick this up again someday, just to see.
