This was a pretty good horror novel. Definitely a horrifying grim fairy tale. A special boy escapes from his father who has isolated him his whole life. Jess a broke L.A. waitress/actress finds the boy and all helll breaks loose. Now she and "kiddo" are on the run from this monster of a father.
I'd recommend this to everyone who likes horror, and their fairy tales very grim. Will be reading more of Mr. Cassidy's work for sure.

This book was definitely not one I was expecting to enjoy so much! It was like a mix between Before I Wake and Stranger Things??

I was definitely with Jess the whole time wanting to protect this little kid despite everything he was unintentionally doing. In the end, it was probably good he died, but damn, it's sad that his own father had to do it. 

The gory descriptions in this were nearly impossible for my tiny imagination to figure out. I have zero idea what the father monster even looked like. I just kept imagining him like Lupin in Harry Potter but with a couple extra hands and faces attached. My imagination isn't good enough for a book like this 😂
