The only reason that this book  didn’t receive five stars is because I was under the impression that it was more lighthearted. I loved the plot, but it was more violent than I was expecting. However, the entire idea for the book was one of the most creative murder mysteries that I have read, not predictable at all. It was hard to see the protagonist making decisions that had such severe consequences, but every character needs their flaws! Overall, a great book.
Have the next in the series in hand, however, as the book ends on a cliffhanger!<

I really really loved this book. The premise is hilarious, I ended up telling pretty much everyone I met up with to read this absolute chaotic mess of a book. Finlay is such a relatable main character, she's so messy and unhinged and weirdly okay with murder, definitely in need of some therapy. Vero was also absolutely amazing, an icon, and such a supportive friend. I definitely got a Thelma and Louise vibe off of their relationship.
But oh. my. god. I hate Steven so much. He is such a fucking jerk, I low key would not mind if he died.
The love triangle is also pretty interesting, but I would love it if it ended in a lovely poly relationship between Julian, Nick and Finlay, maybe even Vero too.

Lots of fun to be had here - as promised, by many bookish pals!

You can’t help but root for Finlay as she tries to handle all the shit life has thrown her way. She’s a little bit out of control, a little bit hapless, but she’s managing, and underneath it all, she doesn’t miss much.

This one moves along at a brisk pace, and there are some humorous moments along the way. I’m here for more romantic tension in the second book, since I thought the author accomplished that element particularly well.

I think I was expecting even more, however - more funny, more mysterious / pageturny, more depth to the characters? I was expecting a lot, and it didn’t reach that level of total satisfaction for me. Still, it was a well-put together, easy, entertaining read and I’m totally in for the rest of the series.
