Captured my attention from start to finish without letting go. Suzanne has a genuine skill with her writing and I fully believe she deserves every word of praise she gets, truly remarkable work.

the hunger games provides a fascinating and poignant commentary on the horrors of war - or rather, the aftermath of a war won by oppressors. i wish more people understood the purpose of and voice behind this story.

it was actually my first time reading this and the series. i still felt the same dread and anxiety as i was reading this book. compared to the movies the characters here are described as much younger and it's so scary because they're just kids going through indescribable horror in the arena. i also noticed the differences between the book and the movie. and as much as i love the movie, i also love this book because it showed katniss' inner monologue. will read and try to finish the entire series.

(reread) i loooved this book, but i have some complicated feelings about it. i found tons of grammar/wording mistakes which (not to be anal) really irked me. but the characters were incredibly complex, which was so enjoyable to read about from katniss’ cynical pov. overall this was a really fun read that kept me engaged the whole time! it makes pretty fascinating commentary on human nature.
