This is tough to rate because the writing was really good and the story was very compelling, but I thought the ending was pretty wtf. I understand this autobiographical but I think this book ends up reinforcing a lot of negative stereotypes that many white people believe to be true regarding Arabic culture. There was moments where it felt like the author wished she had done things different and was writing to herself, which didn’t work with the story. I did enjoy the women protagonists though. Couldn’t we have had one man that wasn’t awful in the book?
