Wow... As someone who has never been a -huge- fan of this genre, I can honestly say that might change after reading this novel. I don't typically actually write reviews for books but feel the need to this time.
Having seen the movie The Martain, I had good hopes for this novel. It was our book club novel for July 2022 and I procrastinated reading it as long as I could after seeing the actual size of the novel. It took me a few chapters to get into but when it hooked me, I was 100% hooked.
The story of Ryland Grace is an ever-changing and evolving story as memories and events unfold. The writing going back and forth from past to present kept things interesting and left me wanting more and more. As some of the more important events unfolded I found myself going through all the emotions you want to experience in a fantastically written novel.
I will be recommending this novel to everyone I know!

I really enjoyed reading about Dr.Grace’s quest to save earth and the friendship he developed along the way. I also really liked the ending and how the author tied everything together.

But, about 30% of this book was scientific explanations of how things worked and I found most of them to be boring and redundant. I am not a scientist and don’t really need to know the math equations or formulas that lead the characters to their conclusions. But, if you like that kind of stuff, then this probably wouldn’t bother you as much.

This was one of the most satisfying books I’ve read in a long time. The story was equally serious and lighthearted and the ending was exactly what I was hoping for.
