4.25 stars. I honestly loved it, but I felt like it was missing something, and it’s too rushed imo

5 all the little mermaid twists stars!!!
I love everything about fairy tale retellings, and I love even more when an author can make you forget for most of the book that you might even be reading one, that you might just be reading something completely new. I have devoured every book in this series so far even though you can read them as stand alone books I suggest you read them in order because you get a glimpse of each character as you go along.
Maisie is such a tough little cookie; I had such a great time following along in her journey of growth and development. You knew from the beginning that she was just a lost soul who would do anything for the people she adored. She may not have grown up on the streets but has learned very fast what do when living on them. I loved all of her friends in the theatre group, and once she got into the competition for Dorian’s hand I was just as excited to meet everyone in that house. Don’t even get me started on Podaxis we could have a whole novella on that guy and it wouldn’t be enough for me.
Dorian is the broody un-hero everyone always wants, but he was an onion to peel back that’s for sure. There were some things I didn’t see coming in this book about him. I loved the lumies in this book, I kind of looked at them almost like a funnel cake and honestly if someone gave me funnel cake I might propose right there. His decision to stay with the brotherhood, and his shady past is probably what makes it harder for Maisie to trust him. I liked how throughout the book his layer-by-layer reveal was just so enlightening, and those flower scenes were so emotional I never watched the bachelor but geez is it that rough?
I would highly suggest all three books to anyone, in hardback if you can afford them because underneath the dust jacket is gorgeous. Thank you to Tessonja Odette for a copy in lieu of my honest review.

Kiss of the Selkie was a smooth sail. I swam easily through it. ( Puns totally intended
