I’ll just start by saying I love all of Tessonja Odette’s books, and Kiss of the Selkie is certainly no exception. It’s a NA little mermaid inspired Fae romance with The Selection vibes set in the Faerwyvae version of Vegas. We met Princess Maisie in Heart of the Raven Prince and now it’s her turn to find love. I am so happy she got her own story since she really intrigued me in HOTRP. She ends up in a bridal pageant vying for the hand of Brother Dorian of the Church of Saint Lazaro, but really she’s trying to kill him with her lethal kiss in order to survive a bargain forced upon her by the wicked Sea Queen.
I really liked Maisie, she’s funny, smart, and sassy, and I love her quirk that she loves collecting (read stealing) shiny things. Her nose twitches are adorable. Dorian I took a while to warm up to, but as he began to open up to Maisie I began to see his appeal. I definitely was rooting for them to just tell each other the truth already and I was hoping so hard that they would overcome the odds against them. Podaxis was a delightful surprise in this story! He’s just the brother Maisie needs and I’m do happy he got a HEA too! I really enjoy the writing style of these books and how Tessonja weaves her characters so deftly. They always have unique quirks and personalities so it’s fun to get to know them. Overall I rate this book 4.5 stars since I found the beginning a bit slow, but the second half really picks up. If you love fairy tale retellings I definitely recommend this book and the whole series!
I receive an ARC from the author and I’m voluntarily leaving an honest review.

I think I’ve read too many books of this genre. They’re all starting to feel the same. This was alright. The beginning was pretty good, but the last several chapters were VERY mediocre. They also said they loved each other after like a week of knowing each other, but whatever.
