this book was a bit of a mess. i don’t get why everyone really had to be tory and like absurdly rich, i’ve read emma and that book catered to the wider group that could read that were rich. now most people can read so surely emma should about not the upperclasses?? the book also had some racist undertones that were not addressed. i think someone should’ve shown emma the lesbian master doc because she absolutely needs it.  i don’t know what was going on with her and george knightly  but they both never talked to each other. this book shouldn’t say it’s about ‘a opinionated young woman’ it’s a opinionated privileged person really. i don’t know what was going on about scotland either-i’ve lived there my whole life and no one’s like that. also emma literally outed someone she believed to be gay and lied about sexual harassment and she never saw the consequences for it. i don’t think the author really understood emma, but my experience of emma by jane austen is rested in a young female perspective so obviously this old rich man naturally understands it better. :/ in fairness about this book it’s witty & engaging but i just hate rich people (who don’t care about anything.)
