The Goalie who stole Christmas was such a refreshing short Christmas romance. The two main characters, Sydney and Asher have been friends forever because Asher doesn’t date, that is until he needs a date to take home for the holidays. I loved reading their story, I just wish I had a little more context about their friendship prior.
I was worried I wouldn’t love this strictly because I’m not really into holiday themed books but I LOVED this! I loved Asher and Sydney and the friends to lovers aspect of the book! It was cute, and the spice was well written! Definitely one of my favorites in this whole series!
From page one you could tell that Sydney and Asher were meant to be. I wish we had more time to learn about her traumas and family life outside of the stories we were told, but understandably so that we were reading a novella there just wasn’t the time. Who knows? Maybe we will get more details in the future. The spice was nice, and I just about fell in love with Asher’s mom!

This novella gave me all the feel good vibes for Christmas! This was my first read of Cali’s, and I can totally get behind her writing style! While the development of the relationship was pretty quick due to the length of the story, she does a great job of showing that their feelings were developing MUCH longer than what we see! I love that we get both MC’s POV throughout, so we can see what’s going on in both of their heads! I love how this novella contains multiple tropes (sports, friends to lovers, forced proximity), all in one! It’s a great intro to this author as well as these tropes if you haven’t read them yet! Cali is a new to me author, and this series is new to me as well! I love that this novella can be read as a standalone without having read the rest of the books (though I’m now adding them ALL to my TBR)!
This was a cute and fun read. This is my first read from this author and this novella is the 5th book of the series but reading the others in not necessary. I enjoyed this one and finished it in a couple of hours. This story is a friends to lovers romance with the hockey setting.
Asher is dreading going home for the holidays, especially since his mother is begging him to settle down and get married. Instead of going alone, he convinces his best friend, Sydney, to join him and pretend to be his girlfriend. She agrees, secretly keeping her feelings for him in check. The two share special moments and Asher begins to realize his best friend is what he's been looking for all this time. The intimate moments are spicy, with lots of heat!

Asher just wants to make his mom happy and unfortunately that requires him to bring a girlfriend home for Christmas—unfortunate mainly since he’s a single dude that doesn’t date.
Enter Sydney—Our fake dating angel.
Asher’s friend who is busy nursing some hidden feelings for him. When Asher asks her to be his fake girlfriend she says yes with one rule—don’t fall in love with me.
We all know that breaking rules is so much more fun than following them.
Once they’ve crossed the line can they really go back to just friends? Um I think we know where this is headed.
Snag this one if you love a pinch of Christmas in your hockey romance!
