These books are pure fluff
The plot is minimal, it feels over almost as soon as you start and don’t even get me started on all these engagements. After barely any months of dating, still in college. This series epitomizes why people say romance novels are unrealistic

This was a cute and fun read. This is my first read from this author and this novella is the 5th book of the series but reading the others in not necessary. I enjoyed this one and finished it in a couple of hours. This story is a friends to lovers romance with the hockey setting.
Asher is dreading going home for the holidays, especially since his mother is begging him to settle down and get married. Instead of going alone, he convinces his best friend, Sydney, to join him and pretend to be his girlfriend. She agrees, secretly keeping her feelings for him in check. The two share special moments and Asher begins to realize his best friend is what he's been looking for all this time. The intimate moments are spicy, with lots of heat!

“So, this is all just a tease?”
“No, babe, just a taste of what’s to come.”
This book is a super sweet, but quick (literally and figuratively) Christmas romance. I sort of wish it was a full sized novel because I thoroughly enjoyed Sydney and Asher. They previously knew each other, but end up fake dating due to pressure from Asher’s family to have a date to a family member’s wedding. It turns into more… but the how and why and all the dirty details are something you’ll have to find out when you read the book.
There’s a small miscommunication in The Goalie Who Stole Christmas, which causes tension between Asher and Sydney, but it’s quickly resolved, and all is right in their world again.
Honestly, this book felt more of a “family” type of book, instead of a romance and I was all for it. The fact that Asher’s family welcomed Sydney in with open arms and pretty much made her a part of the family was really sweet and amazing.
“I’m madly fucking in love with you, Sydney.”
“I’ve been in love with you for a long time, Asher.”
Ugh, these two are so sickly sweet… and I want more of them! LOL.

Friends to lovers, fake dating, home for the holidays, hockey romance! Um yes please!!
Asher needs a fake girlfriend to take home to Maine for his brothers wedding, which also happens to fall right around Christmas. Determined to make his mom happy, he asks Sydney to be his fake girlfriend and to spend Christmas with him and his family, having made it clear he has no interest in any form of a “real “ relationship. But having been friends since freshman year, Sydney quickly agreed not admitting to Asher that she had some underlying feelings for him.
I loved that when Asher realized what he was feeling, those feelings flourished and this man who had no interest in dating or relationships was picturing a future with this girl he had been friends with for years.
“You’ve been right in front of me this entire time” “How could I have possibly been so blind”
And Sydney was so sweet and so real! She had these feelings for Asher but didn’t want the pain and rejection if he didn’t want the same thing. And the way that she was in awe of all the beauty and family traditions that their family took part in made her character even more genuine.
Their love was not instant it was something that grew with friendship and time, even though we didn’t get to see that ourselves, eventually when eyes were opened and lines were crossed, Asher especially was able to admit that he wanted so much more than what they had in their friendship.
“I guess when you know, you just know.” “And what do you know?” I swallow roughly. “That I’m madly fucking in love with you, Sydney Phillips. And I want you for the rest of my life.”
“I’ve been in love with you for a long time, Asher Golding.” Her face dips down to mine, her lips barely brushing against my own. “And I’ll love you for the rest of my life.”
LIKE CAN WE JUST TALK ABOUT THE AWWWWING & SWOONING MOMENT I HAD READING THAT

I thought this book was absolutely great and such a great holiday read. I am a huge fan of sports romances and this one does not disappoint at all. Being a novella I thought the plot was great and didn't seem hurried like other novellas I have read in the past. I have not read any of the other books in this series but I definitely need to after reading this one.
I was chosen to receive an ARC of this book and I am so glad I was able to provide my feedback on it.
