Phenomenal

I feel like I was able to step back into the lives of characters I have loved for years. What a special treat to be able to read in James’s POV! Hope we can read his side some more real soon!

Obsessed was all I thought it was going to be and MORE! Absolutely loved being inside James’ head. I liked seeing Penny through his eyes and reading his thoughts about their relationship. Of course the spice was there FULL FORCE and it wouldn’t be an Ivy book without a cliffhanger. I thought there was no way it was possible since I knew the story, but she did it! 10/10 recommended!

I loved this in case it wasn’t obvious by my rating. You may think this book was going to be repetitive but you’re wrong. This felt like a new book despite being Temptation but in James pov.
This was enlightening and interesting in so many ways…

I was excited and scared to be in James’s mind but let me tell you, it was enlightening. The way his mind works is so relatable and a person with his past can only do so much. He has so much low esteem and self loathing… All of his life, he never felt love or happiness and that’s just sad. I felt for him on a deep level and it made him so relatable.

His sessions with Dr. Clark were interesting. In his first session I was like “ Doc do you even know what you’re doing” but on the second session I was like “ yep Doc, you do know what you’re doing “ and also we do get to see what it was like for him and what he felt at the time when he was in college so that means everything that happened in Empire High and wasn’t that a revelation of events. I loved reading his pov and be able to pin point what happened in that point of his life.

Every single time James thought of penny it was either so sweet or hot or depressing. Professor Hunter is definitely a sexy men but with a lot of baggage and issues.

The last chapters where James “left Penny” I was like “ it’s not like her lie was worse than yours “ but still it’s understandable why he felt like he can’t trust anyone because let’s face it , if everyone in your life only lied to you wouldn’t you have the same trust issues? Still do I think it was necessary for him to leave her? No, I don’t because again I think his lie was worse but he was so overwhelmed with what she told him plus what was crossing through his mind at the time wasn’t great, he though he was a monster so again understandable.
Honestly I kind of fascinated with his mind.

Now I may or may not have called Isabella a b**ch a few times because like James said she’s crazy and a psycho and we all know how many problems she creates for our favorite characters so I just couldn’t control myself.

Love love

Yay glad I'm finally reading James pov.
I really do love these books from Matt and Brooklyn to James and penny

Happy release day ivy

OBSESSED!

This book turned out to be everything I hoped it would be, and so much more.

I really didn’t think it would be possible to expand and entertain an entirely different aspect of two characters we all know and love so well, but this is absolute perfection.

And in true Ivy style, a cliffhanger (one that we all knew was going to happen based off what happened in Temptation) still had me screaming as I turned the last page. A new twist on information we already knew.

I cannot say enough about this book: it was *chef’s kiss* PERFECTION.

I wish this book had been out when I read the original story!!!! I love a male POV but I would have liked being able to remember the original story so I could reference back to how she was feeling at the time also. But I do love knowing just how much he was obsessed with her and what was happening with him when they weren’t together!!!

This is a huge skim fest for me and I’m labeling it as a DNF because I fell asleep reading it multiple times so even though I made it to the end, I retained nothing. I read the first two books in the James/Penny trilogy sometime in the past year and had to stop. I liked book one but I hated that it was all from Penny’s POV. She drove me nuts. Then there was all the miscommunication and drama in book two and I didn’t care to finish the trilogy. Then I learned this author had written a bazillion more books about this couple and all the books I had on my TBR by her were either spin-offs of characters from this book or more of this couple later on in their lives. Hard pass.

But then this book was announced and it’s the first book of the original trilogy but in Professor Hunter’s POV. I’d always wondered if I had his POV in the original books if that would have made a difference. It appears that it wouldn’t have made a difference because his POV was the same shit as before. Supposedly there’s more added to this but it was so damn boring I ended up skimming the majority of it. Even the sex scenes couldn’t save it. Now I remember why I abandoned this series. At least I seem to have found a cure for my insomnia.

I can’t rate this because it’s really a case of, it’s me not the book. If you are a fan of this series you will probably love this. I’m just not.
