Very cheesy, very morally gray but not very entertaining

Didn't enjoy the writing style. Very choppy.
Spoiler Read chapter 17 bc supposedly Amazon "banned" the book bc of it & it was nothing special/crazy compared to some other smut I've read...

2⭐️ I don’t know how I powered through this book but apparently it takes a lot for me make a book a DNF. I was bored until around 35% and then it was just really monotonous. It felt like groundhogs day for awhile where there were always in class giving speeches and tip toeing around.
I didn’t even like the age gap bc it was confusing. 6 yrs to me really doesn’t fit the age trope of a 21 yr old and a 27 yr old bc they are pretty much still in the same stage of life. I was thinking he was older and then half way through we learn his age.
I thought “professor hunter” was overly used and that Penny acted immature in ways that were uncalled for. There was also a surprise at the end that didn’t get resolved and this isn’t a stand alone book!! I was pissed to finally power through to find that it continues to another book! No thanks. The only good thing was that the spicy scenes

MF Romance
Student/Teacher

This is a huge skim fest for me and I’m labeling it as a DNF because I fell asleep reading it multiple times so even though I made it to the end, I retained nothing. I read the first two books in the James/Penny trilogy sometime in the past year and had to stop. I liked book one but I hated that it was all from Penny’s POV. She drove me nuts. Then there was all the miscommunication and drama in book two and I didn’t care to finish the trilogy. Then I learned this author had written a bazillion more books about this couple and all the books I had on my TBR by her were either spin-offs of characters from this book or more of this couple later on in their lives. Hard pass.

But then this book was announced and it’s the first book of the original trilogy but in Professor Hunter’s POV. I’d always wondered if I had his POV in the original books if that would have made a difference. It appears that it wouldn’t have made a difference because his POV was the same shit as before. Supposedly there’s more added to this but it was so damn boring I ended up skimming the majority of it. Even the sex scenes couldn’t save it. Now I remember why I abandoned this series. At least I seem to have found a cure for my insomnia.

I can’t rate this because it’s really a case of, it’s me not the book. If you are a fan of this series you will probably love this. I’m just not.

Another masterpiece by Ivy. James is one of my absolute favorite book characters and hearing his point of view was so emotional for me. 100% recommend reading this immediately. <3

DNF.
I’m not sure if I’m interested in reading this. lol.

This book was incredibly long for no reason. It was repetitive and like a nonstop monologue. I can't imagine there being 2 more books after this one.

Short version: I almost DNFed, pushed through it because I wanted it to be good…I should’ve just DNFed it. So disappointing.

Full Review: The basic story line was intriguing. I was, at one point, a college student who had the hot for the one prof. So I figured hey, I didn’t act on that but let me live vicariously through this FMC.

WHAT A DISASTER.

Upon finishing and reading the reviews on Goodreads, this is book one from the professor’s POV but was apparently preceded by the student’s POV in a separate book. So MAYBE if I had read her POV first I wouldn’t be so disappointed. But alas, I didn’t, so here I am.

The MMC is childish and petulant. I’ve read the entire book and have no idea what he likes about her other than her looks and the fact that she’s a good girl who is oNlY bAd fOr HiM. But he’s willing to throw his career away? Oh, sure.

And the FMC is a naive small town girl who has no clue he’s a billionaire. Because why the hell wouldn’t she be? Honestly it was borderline infuriating. Add in the fact that both of them have the communication skills of a hangry toddler and it’s just too much.

As if that wasn’t yikes enough, there’s also: an exwife who is like a psychotic supervillain?, almost zero explanation of the intense disdain the MMC feels for his family (but it’s obviously important because it’s brought up a dozen or more times), employees/friends that KNEW he was screwing a student (one even knew she was only 19) and were just like “yay for you bud I’m glad you’re happy…” add a dash of creepy stalker tendencies and voyeurism without consent and I was just fighting to get it over with.

I honestly should’ve DNFed, but then how would I confidently rate it a one and tell you, my friends, not to waste your time? Just…don’t. Trust me.
