Animal farm is a caricature, a strawman of the pre-modern, real world social order.

This isn't necessariliy a bad thing, for it explains complex topics with ease to the naive.

Strawmanning has its own advantages under ceratin conditions.

It was a short story that resembled the nature of creatures to gain power for themselves without regard for others and shared the message that sometimes you end up becoming what you most feared becoming. The story was hard for me to finish because it felt boring. Some might enjoy it, but it was not for me. For a great majority of the time I spent reading, I was in annoyance at the actions in the story.
