Just alright. I was confused with the plot but if you take it as a fairytale not meant to make sense it’s more enjoyable. The characters are sweet but not loveable. They learn in either know it all or whiny territory and I don’t feel as though they were really bonding ever. My favorite characters were the cats mentioned. It’s a lovely concept and I like it in theory, so if I think of it as a dream instead of a story it’s nice.

The Ocean at the End of the Lane is such a lovely story in a relatively sort book. It was difficult it put it down during the time I read it. The reflections of an older man on his childhood put the reader in a position to remember their own: the way they once felt small and insignificant but yet brave and loving.

Gaiman captures the magic of childhood so well and is really able to transport the reader back into the brain of a 7-year-old while reading this book. Fun, whimsical, and reflective read.
