Good fun, as always with this series

Still enjoyable, still one of the best monster-of-the-week 'shows' out there these days - but Season Three shows some all-too-familiar weaknesses around the edges. Characters get paired off or pitted against each other simply to have something to do, plots are resolved way too quickly and without much consequence, and you'd be forgiven if you (as I did) had to walk away from this season not because it was bad... but because it just didn't feel like the show you'd loved.
I was happy I came back and finished though, because even with some of the overly dramatic flourishes of the last few episodes, the big multi-part showdown in London is one of the best things the Bookburners writers' room has ever pulled off. So, yeah, I'll be back for season 4.... but maybe not for much longer than that.

Bookburners continues to be an enjoyable read. The characters twist and turn and grow and reveal new secrets, Grace's change of reading matter had me braced for something having gone occultishly haywire with her, and the nod to Paul Cornell's Shadow Police series in the last episode made me laugh (that team and the Vatican crew would be one heckuva crossover)

That was not as enjoyable as the previous two seasons of the series. The previous season especially hit it out of the park with characterization and slow build-up to a huge payoff (one that I imagine would have been amazing for someone who read each episode as it was released), and it really managed to make you relate to every character in the series.

In this season, everyone's personal arc seems to be relatively floundering, with the possible exception of the good Father Menchu, and Menchu's arc wasn't particularly interesting. There are also weren't very many interesting high concept things like the Silk Road or Team 4 to keep things interesting.

On the whole, pretty disappointed. The endgame of this season was also not what I was expecting. Let's see where they take this from here.
