A wonderful story I'm glad to have revisited for the first time since I was very young. Jim Hawkins may not be the most fascinating protagonist but Long John Silver is rightfully iconic.

I recently read the original book and found this dramatized adaptation and thought it would be fun to give it a listen.

It's funny I was hoping that listening to this version would clarify somethings I had trouble understanding in the original book, which it did, but also I think if I hadn't read the original I'd not have been able to follow this one at all.

The sound effects and full cast made this a really fun and immersive read, but as others have mentioned at times it gets really difficult to tell characters apart.

Over all a fun read, but definitely not a replacement for the original!

Nice, lighthearted read. It's nice to see where all the tropes started.

This is one of my favorite stories of all time, and one I hope to read aloud with my daughter as she grows old enough.

Long-John Silver is one of my favourite literary characters of all time, he is such an intriguing, charismatic, intelligent, manipulative, complex individual. He’s a business owner, a white man from the 1700s with a black wife (wish there was more about her, she must be pretty cool too), is watching out for kids but will kill a man in a moments notice, is a clever but opportunistic mastermind, and has a physical disability that doesn’t hold him back but instead is something he leverages.

I also like some other characters too, such as the good captain, hilariously flighty and ignorant Squire Trelawney, and the dull doctor. Jim I’m indifferent to, but makes for a good relatable narrator.

As a child I read many abridged classics and this was one of three I remember getting the unabridged version after, loving it so much.

Muppets Treasure Island is imo the best done film version. Tim Curry is such a great LJS.

Un libro que evite leer por mucho tiempo y luego me arrepentí de no haberlo hecho antes. Me gustó mucho. En momentos algo pesado, pero ya que le agarras el trama te entretiene bastante.

Si pienso en un libro de aventuras, pienso en este libro. Eterno clásico, muy entretenido y con un ritmo que no decae nunca.

I found this pretty boring. Jim is a pretty static character and the only actual complexity comes in with long john silver but thats only in the last fifth or smth. I think the doctor and captain are pretty cool but this is a pretty run of the mill adventure story. I get it basically invented adventure stories but that doesn't mean I still can't find it generic. Compared to treasure planet it is pretty bad. Treasure planet is da goat
