I wanted a pirate story. Not romantasy, nothing magic or supernatural JUST pirates, and you know what? That's not so easy to find so I decided to go to the OG. 

I generally do not enjoy classics so I was skeptical about this one, but I was pleasantly surprised. I had a much better time with this book than I expected to and can see why it's so widely beloved. This was exactly what I wanted in a pirate story, but the language just lost me sometimes. I know this is a personal problem, but with some of the outdated language and nautical terms there were paragraphs of text that after reading left me wondering what the hell I'd just read, but I had fun anyway.

Though, like...Jim's mom was just totally fine with her CHILD running off to search for treasure with people she barely knew?! IT WAS A DIFFERENT TIME!
