Reading this book was a bit of a revelation. As a long-time lover of certain film adaptations, I had no idea that Billy Bones and Mr Arrow were both men of colour.
But I think I prefer the more modern takes on Mr Arrow's character, making him a good officer taken out by pirates for being too shrewd --instead of this book's canon portrayal of him as a constant drunk that everyone was pleased to learn fell overboard in a probable stupor.
