okay, i’m an absolute sucker for hades and persephone retellings and this was no different. the characters were on the whole incredibly well written, the narrative was pretty well done and i loved the romance development. i liked the steady development of the plot and also really liked the writing style though i can’t place why. a lot of the time, i didn’t really want to put the book down at all.
the world building wasn’t awful, did leave room for improvement but on the whole not awful. i had a good sense of what the mortal world looked like, but there were A LOT of settings which i think gets abit confusing. the underworld was really well done, especially the areas of tarturus and asphodel (i suppose it would have to be well done though with it being one of the main settings)
i absolutely LOVED the character of hecate, i hope to see her tons over the course of the next few books. her, lex and sybil are my girls, protect them at all costs. hades’s development was nicely drawn out too, with the reader (and persephone too) learning little bits about him just often enough to keep us interested and intrigued (not that i wasn’t, but jt was definitely better for the information to be dropped in little segments rather than all at once like some books do) i’m quite happy that books 2, 4 and 6 of this series are in his perspective because i would definitely love to see that.
the villains were so well done. i hated them. despised them. every time they entered a scene i wanted to hit them. i do LOVE a well written villain. demeter especially wound me tf up (do i have a bit of a complex mother daughter relationship too which i think worsened my dislike of her? yes)
i do have some critiques though, starting with how naive and clueless persephone is. i love my girl, i do, but several times in the narrative she made such poor choices even knowing they were wrong or misinformed. she literally stopped speaking to someone because she wouldn’t hear them out (i mean she definitely needs therapy which helps her case a little but still, we know how i feel about the miscommunication trope) i was also a little disappointed by the way in which (slight spoiler) persephone had to regain her powers. it seemed a bit…eh???? very odd (if you read it/have read it, you’ll know what i mean)
okay so this retelling is particularly smutty, which you know, slay, HOWEVER in this book it felt a little bit forced in at times? like there were some scenes that were nice and really well written and enjoyable and BANG sex. sometimes i got whip lash.
right, my boy cerberus lowkey disappeared near the end? he and persephone went somewhere and you only hear of persephone and hades leaving. WHERE IS CERBERUS? justice for my boy.
basically, i’d recommend this book, but it did only just scrape making it into the 4 star category.

a lighthearted read! enjoyed it but it wasn’t anything crazy
this is a bad book. it really evades detail and flow. this feels like something a 14 year old could write in one sitting
I'm not too sure about this one. I had fun reading it but I wasn't blown away. I didn't think the character development was too deep. There wasn't enough angst for me. I think It could have used more obstacles to overcome in their way to getting together. It just seemed like it was too easy and that any little thing that went wrong ended up in a spicy session. I like a little more substance.

Actually 3.5
Estuvo bien, nada wow
No importa quien escriba sobre Hades, ese hombre en cada versión siempre va a ser el amor de mi vida <3
