First things first:

This book is not antisemitic. I am Jewish, this isn’t blood libel. Not all 'blood' magic (which this even barely qualifies as, given the bloodwitches gain superhuman strength/endurance and the urge to kill, and normally just have a need to use the power often) is blood libel. Blood libel are supposedly specific rituals for power or funsies, not blood magic. There is a vaccine/cure, based on the author needing shots after a concussion to have proper neurotransmitters. The bloodwitch ability is a disorder that is useful to some people but harms them--bloodwitches die young because of it. That's all it is: a metaphor for a certain type of physical/medical disorder that becomes commodified but really sucks to live with.

Honestly, I just never felt any chemistry between the two MCs, and has a hard time with this one.
