A book for the girls who think no one will love them as they are

I really wanted to like this book more because I love Holly Black but this book revolves around Oak and he’s not my favorite character. He comes across as immature and angsty, which is understandable because he is a young man. Is there a version of this book from Wren’s POV? I’d read that. Wren’s amazing!

“We don’t always do the thing we were born for.”
Black dazzles yet again with her newest novel set in the world of Elfhame. Oak and Suren give new meaning to star-crossed lovers while blackmail, betrayal, conspiracies, murder, and more than a bit of courtly intrigue do everything possible to keep them apart.
Of course, I was also delighted by the return of Jude and Cardan while being annoyed at every page that contained Taryn. There are certainly complicated family dynamics at play in this book, which kind of speaks to my own complicated family in a way that is repellant and comforting at the same time.
Honeyed words have met their match with sharp teeth.
I just have one question left: are we going to get a Nicassia spin-off?!

Holly black does two things right EVERY TIME: an end of book plot twist that I NEVER saw coming and not overwriting her stories. Her books are always around 300 pages and leave out any unnecessary parts that won’t keep you hooked - she stays to the meat of the story and I love it
