Rereading the series to get ready for The Fallen and the Kiss of Dusk. Book 1 still slaps. And gives me heart palpitations.

This books was stressful, exciting, sad, and entertaining to read. It took a little while to get into with the beginning being slow, but as it started picking up I couldn’t put it down.

Wasn’t a huge fan of the ending’s direction, but it still makes me want to read the second book.

The ideas in this book were interesting but the execution was pretty bad in my opinion. The lack of solid world building took me out of the story for the majority of the book. The last quarter of the book was probably the most enjoyable to me. That part was (mostly) well written. The story is also pretty formulaic (in the sense that if you’re used to reading fantasy/romantasy the plot will either feel pretty predictable or you definitely won’t be surprised by the plot twists.
