Hunger Games, meets multiple book tropes with Vampires.
This was a good read, it drew me in from the very first page. I knocked off a star due to its lack of originality. I felt the plot and characters were taken from a few other series, instead of standing on a new idea. With that being said, the author did a great job of captivating the reader with the trials. Having to watch Oraya navigate deadly trials as a human had me on the edge of my seat. Everybody in the trials had an edge over her in many ways, yet she kept fighting. I wish we could have had more of Vincent's story. He seemed to have a lot of secrets that he was keeping from Oraya. I'm hoping the second book will shed more light on that. Overall, a good book and I'm looking forward to Oraya's next move. That ending had me near tears.

Fun adventure romantasy. I'm not usually into vampire stories but this one has an interesting take. Unsure I liked the ending but it does prompt me to want to read the next book.

4.5⭐️ I’m only deducting 0.5 star because it took me about 100 or so pages till I got super into it & was tough to fully grasp after going through an Iron Flame book hangover. But I did read this much quicker than most books and it got so much more interesting as it progressed. Super heartbreaking moments that just had me hooked and fully invested.
