"I know what I saw...It can't be a coincidence.
Maybe I was wrong not to say anything to the others about the woman. About the ghost. I felt ashamed, and I worried about their reaction.
But it seems we're not longer exploring the Ormen.
We are being hunted."

A chilling (literally and metaphorically) tale of a whaling ship in the Arctic. Two female protagonists find themselves trapped on the Ormen ship; Nicky the daughter of the shipping company owner has been kidnapped and is travelling from Dundee to the Arctic in the late Victorian era and Dom, an urban explorer, is on board the beached shipwreck in the present day. A history of Scottish whaling ships, Scottish and Icelandic folklore and paranormal occurrences are woven in to the enthralling narrative. The author has produced a complex exploration of the impact of patriarchy and trauma on people and places. The tension of the remote and dangerous location combined with disturbing events builds to a terrifying conclusion. An intense, dark and feminist tale of revenge, for fans of Laura Purcell and Stacey Hall, it's also reminiscent of Michelle Paver's Dark Matter.
