This is a short story, following Medusa, hired by Athena to kill Calypso, but instead falling in love.

I really wanted to read something from this world, and this scratched the itch. It's very short, but was kinda sweet. It has a lot of plot points in common with Electric Idol, but I'm always excited to see two ladies falling in love.

It really suffered from the ending for me. Felt quite abrupt, and also a little ambiguous (!) if one hasn't read Neon God's beforehand, even though it takes place after.

I really, really hope they show up in the series again though!

Insta-love is not my favorite trope and that was pretty much the entire story. I loved the idea of Medusa being an assassin, but the story didn’t present her as the talented assassin she’s supposed to be. That’s not to say she can’t be an assassin with a conscience, but the only person we see her try to assassinate is Calypso and it falls apart so quickly that her talents as an assassin are put in question.

This was just meh. I went into it expecting a quick, fun, spicy read but it was only quick (it did technically take me 2 days but that was because I was exhausted after a day at work and nothing was happening to make me want to force myself to continue). This was the epitome of insta love with really flat characters despite there being potential for more from them. It very much feels like the author had the idea for the two characters relationship but they couldn't fit it into the overall series as a full length novel so they wrote this 80 page story as they didn't want to give up on the idea. The spice was also disappointing as it was just lacking. At least I can say I have continued a series and have gotten one step closer to finishing it, despite it not adding to the series what's so ever.
