Date noted is when my F2F book club discussed this classic work. I had read it first back when I was in junior high. The first "adult" book I ever read.

Well written literature/story about immigrants Russians, Bohemians, Norwegians coming to the midwest (Nebraska)? in the late 1800's. Pleasant story interesting in how relevant some of the characters and events would be today. It is nice to see a male (Jim raised by his Grandparents- reminds me of a great President we just had) in a book written with admirable qualities.

Listened via Hoopla. The narrator was very good. And the prose here is also very good. Beautiful. It’s a lovely period piece of immigrant settlers in the Great Plains. I liked the steady rhythm of the writing. Made me miss the prairies we took care of in Illinois.

Quite a beautiful book. Everyone should read more Willa Cather.
