This was probably the sweetest little fantasy that includes death, decay and bloodlust I've ever read. This book was an easy ready, the audio narration was so smooth and I loved it!
So many beautiful little slow burn moments. A very interesting magic/ trading system and a lovely little nod to fate lines.

"I have never met anyone more frustrating, or beautiful or brave. I love you.

"I love you more than the moon and the stars themselves"

This was the kind of “classic YA” you would have read back in the 2010s – which makes sense considering the publication date. It was not my favourite work by Rogerson, but still beautifully written and paced well enough to keep me intrigued. The whole “level-headed heroine who falls in insta-love with the prince” annoyed me a bit, but if you like that sort of thing in your “classic YA”, you’d love this one. The other thing that somewhat annoyed me that the reason why these characters are subject to each other is quite thin.

From the moment I started reading, I was captured by the hypnotic tone that was tinged with melancholy. I was taken on a journey that was beautiful, dark and at times gave me hints of the ballroom scene in Labyrinth and I loved it. It is vibes based reading but I really enjoyed it.

I liked the world and how the FMC saw past the glamour of fae lives.  But the only characters I really liked were May & March.
