I never fancied myself a summer romance reader but Carley Fortune has my number. This was so fun and bingeable, I finished it in a day.

What starts out as a no-strings attached fling while Lucy is vacationing on Prince Edward Island turns into an awkward encounter when Lucy realises the subject of her fling is her best friend’s younger brother Felix - who she has been firmly instructed not to fall for.

The novel unfolds over the course of years as Lucy and Felix carry on a once-a-year or so tryst as Lucy visits the island with her best friend, Bridget. All the while keeping it secret from everyone, making it both thrilling and a little stressful. Things come to a head when Bridget calls for an emergency vacation just weeks before her wedding. Lucy and Felix are forced to confront what a relationship might look like for them, and whether or not they actually want to make it work.

This was a heartfelt and sweet romance spanning time and distance and the sorts of life changes we experience as we grow up and take on responsibilities that move us down the path of adulthood.
