I read this one because it had high reviews at the library. Usually with a book like this I can get through in 48 hours but I was really struggling to get through this one. Maybe it's because Carley Fortune's style is a little bit different then I am used to. Or maybe because the main attraction between the two main characters didn't seem real to me. Either way it wasn't as great as every else had said it was. But I think the main character that should get all the awards is the setting. I've never been to Prince Edward Island. Never thought I would want to go there until I feel in love with the island through the beautiful imagery used to paint the picture of why the MFC kept coming back to the island for peace and reseting.

Possibly my favorite of hers so far. I loved the setting of Prince Edward Island, the relationship between the aunt and niece, cozy vibes of the best friend's house and the idea of friends being chosen family. It made me want to go to the island to visit soon! Lots of mentions of oysters.

the chemistry? WOW. the yearning? WOW.
so so good. carley fortune says in her acknowledgments that her main goal for this book was to”fun” and i think that really is true to the book. it’s a fun read and it also speaks to growing up and growing into ourselves.
PSA: there’s lots of sex. which, the premise is that they are secretly screwing each other but .. just so you know.

It was cuter than I expected, the MCs had good chemistry, the setting (PEI, a little Toronto) was refreshing and ideal for my taste, the emphasis on platonic love and the meaning of family was great (the MC's relationships with her best friend and aunt were moving). The time jumps could be a little confusing at times but not a big problem.
