When Ellie Pierce moves to Sparrow Falls to start her life over, she doesn’t expect to end up living next door to the town’s sheriff and broody, single dad Trace. The problem with that is Trace sees more than Ellie wants him too and he slowly infiltrates her walls to see what is truly going on. When Trace and Ellie’s past secrets come back to haunt them, Trace tries to take it all heads on. With every passing moment and soul scorching touches, Ellie is starting to realize just how much she may actually like the single dad next door. With danger lurking, Trace has to decide how to keep it from forever ruining his life and his new life with Ellie.
I absolutely adore this couple as well as Keely. I loved how they both knocked down each other’s defenses. Reading about Ellie and Keely’s relationship was so beautiful and I love how Ellie made Keely feel. Also, the special moments between Keely and her dad were so adorable, I teared up. Lolli was one of the funniest people in the story, as always and I hope she does end up giving Walter a chance. I also really enjoyed the snippets of Kyle and Fallon’s relationship throughout the years. I have no doubt their story will break me in all the best ways possible.
Some tropes include: neighbors to lovers, single dad, touch her and d!e, funny grandma, found family, romantic suspense and more. Some possible TWs: mentions of alcohol and substance abuse, m*rder, threatening behavior (against FMC and MMC), toxic family behavior (FMC) and losses of parent(s). There are more I’m sure I’m missing so please look into it if you’re worried.

Welcome back to the not-so-sleepy town of Sparrow Falls, where at times danger is hiding in the shadows…waiting to pounce.
Chasing Shelter is Ellie & Trace’s story…and it picks up shortly after the end of Beautiful Exile.
Ellie is Lincoln’s younger sister & she decided that she was going to leave the life that her father demanded she lived in NYC behind…and move to Sparrow Falls.
She left quite a bit behind in NYC…an job…and an ex…
But now…she’s figuring out what she wants to do with her life…living it as brightly as she wants…instead of how everyone else thinks she should live.
She found a house to rent…one that her brother even approved of…because of her neighbor. Little did Ellie know…she’s now living next-door to Trace Colson & his adorable little girl, Keely.
Trace lives more or less by the ‘rules’…though he tries to keep things fun & such for his daughter…who is ecstatic when her ‘bestie’ moves in next door & helps her with her hair…
But what happens when even Trace’s past comes knocking? He didn’t have an easy childhood before he ended up at the Colson’s as a foster child…
Ellie had hoped she left her past behind in NYC…
Then mix in the in-everyone’s-business siblings of Trace…plus Lottie…I love Lottie…
Not to mention an rescued dog & goat….
The answers…the sibling banter—the text threads (love those as well)….and everyone within Sparrow Falls can be found within the pages of Chasing Shelter…plus finally seeing another character on ‘paper’—I might need to do a re-read of the previous books (I might have missed his ‘chat’ appearances).
Chasing Shelter, while fifth in the series—can be read as a stand-alone book…and if you haven’t read the series yet—grab it….read it…then go binge read the previous books. Or…you can binge-read from the start (Fragile Sanctuary).
Can’t wait for the final book (Secret Haven) to be released in October…and that one will be epic.
Five out of five stars for Chasing Shelter…go & grab it if you haven’t already.

If you have read one book in this series, you have read them all. I really don't know why I keep reading these, but I think I'm in too deep now lol. Nearly every woman, besides Nora, are extremely immature. Which is fine for one character, but as the series has progressed, more and more have been introduced. I cannot stand Lolli. At. All. It's not cute, it's cringe. The nicknames in this series are atrocious and cringey as well, but Blaze is one of the better ones. Trace is a likable character and so is the daughter. The plot is the same just with different people, which isn't necessarily bad, but the characters make it difficult.
