Brilliantly insightful and holds nothing back. An articulate observer of our times.

As usual, Rebecca Solnit cuts through the noise of our present to the core truths of what we say and what we do, and the contradictions that bad actors espouse to excuse their bad words and behaviors. Reading “Whose Story Is This?” provided me with many “Yes!” moments, and reminders and reassurance that others share my values, my perspective, and perceptions. More importantly, Solnit’s work — like all her books — helped me articulate what I knew intuitively about the injustice of our society and culture. Even though the skies may currently appear very dark, shared acknowledgement and understanding are vital steps to change. Rebecca Solnit provides just that, essay after essay, book after book.

All hail Rebecca Solnit. Her essay collections are always so insightful. In this collection, she pontificates on everything from patriarchal naming practices to the hope inherent in fighting for the future.

Used for the #WotNReadingChallenge (my own prompt list!) prompt: "A book from a celebrity book club"

Collection of short essays. Quick reads, although sometimes too much of an opinion article than a researched article. Ended on a high note with a lot of sad notes in between.
