More of a 3.5. I really admire Rebecca Solnit but my politics differ a lot from hers. But her work has been important to me for years and I still think she's a great writer. I just don't agree with many of the things she says anymore so it's hard for me to judge. The essays in her collection - just in general - are not her best work but they aren't BAD. Just don't reflect my worldview. I still respect her a great deal and will always read her books. The audiobook is pretty good as well.

not as good as call them by their true names
I can honestly say that I'm a better person for reading this book. Read this book, gift this book, make the world a better place. Special thanks to the wonderful woman who lent it to me!

“Don’t ask what will happen, be what happens. Today you are what is happening. Today, you are the force of possibility that runs through the present like a river through the desert.”
I really enjoyed the first section of the book but the essays in the second section were more hit and miss for me. Quite US-centric but still very educational and thought-provoking

A collection of essays on feminism, racial politics, the climate debate and many other pertinent issues of social justice. They’re written with startling clarity and an openness to any reader willing to listen. Full review at Have You Read This
I will read everything Rebecca Solnit writes. All of it. Two books down, like 20 to go!
