I was getting frustrated with Kathleen near the end (you're literally just gonna make the exact same mistakes you already did when you were young and naïve, even with the benefit of hindsight?? WHY), but luckily the shit hits the fan and gets resolved pretty quickly, but not in an unrealistic way. I appreciated that Kathleen and Cal's downfall both times were not your average miscommunication trope, but just a mismatch in their stages of emotional growth. Also appreciated that everyone, especially Kathleen, made real mistakes that they apologized and paid for, instead of being blamed for something that wasn't really their fault but "oh no I must take responsibility because I'm such a good person/doormat" (happens too often to show a character is "good" and "kind" and "self-sacrificing" but it just comes off as pathetic, spineless, and unlikable for me).

Also really appreciated the presence of therapy (even though it didn't seem to have enlightened Kathleen THAT much lol) and LUBE because what's with all this "natural wetness" lmao. Let's be for real!

Cal was soooo sweet but it does feel like he got off a little easy.
SpoilerThen again, Cal got his heartbroken twice so, guess that evens out a bit??

I've become such a fan of Elissa Sussman and have burned through both her romances very quickly. She is immensely readable; the characters are charming; and she writes sexual tension very well. I just wish this book was spicier.
medium-paced

Normally not a fan of second chance romances but this was so fun and felt fresh. I really liked the balance of plot and romance I will have to check out her other book

It was ultimately a good romcom around a very fiery main character, but I feel like a lot of the plot was too fast and everything just kind of gets glossed over. It moves on quickly from any little twist there is. It’s funny given the title, because I think I just wanted a little more feeling. That being said it is an interesting look into the theater world, celebrity, etc. I just felt like there could be more from both the past and present timelines.
